The first clip has emerged on YouTube from the Vancouver set of the upcoming sci-fi sequel Star Trek Beyond, which is expected to arrive in Dubai for location filming next month.

The short clip, which is just over a minute long and was filmed in front of a green screen, shows Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk, Simon Pegg’s Scotty, Anton Yelchin’s Chekov and an alien character played by Sofia Boutella apparently emerging from a hatch on a spacecraft. Boutella’s character operates some kind of mechanical device and... not much else happens – but it does at least give us a first glimpse of the new uniforms from the movie, as well as Boutella’s striking alien character.
