Shah Rukh Khan tweeted a selfie with Zayn Malik this weekend at The Asian Awards. “This kid is so cool. May Allah bless him. Dinner time at the Asian Awards,” he wrote under the pic that shows the pair dressed in dinner suits and smiling at the camera.
Khan was recognised for his ‘Outstanding Contribution to Cinema’ at the awards, now in their fifth year and held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. Upon receiving his award, the Bollywood superstar said: “I’d like to thank the world for their inspiration.”
Malik was making his first public appearance since dramatically quitting One Direction last month in the middle of their tour. He sported a new buzz cut hair-do and appeared at the award ceremony, which took place in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, with his mother.
Malik, 22, also took home an award – his was for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’ and was presented by his friend and music producer Naughty Boy, who he is rumoured to be working with now as a single act. Malik paid thanks to 1D as he picked up his award, calling his former band mates “four of the best guys I’ve ever met.” He went on to say how his experience with 1D would stay with him for the rest of his life.
