UK media is reporting that Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson is to be sacked after a BBC investigation concluded he did attack a producer on the programme, but a BBC spokesman has said "no decision has been made. When we have an outcome, we will announce it".

Clarkson also tweeted a rebuttal of the story on Wednesday (March 25) at about 2pm UAE time. “Just to keep everyone up to date, I haven’t heard a thing,” he wrote.

According to reports, Clarkson allegedly spent 20 minutes verbally abusing producer Oisin Tymon after a day of filming, before launching a 30-second physical assault on him. Clarkson then telephoned Danny Cohen, the BBC’s director of television, to report the incident, which took place three weeks ago at the Simonstone Hall hotel near Hawes in north Yorkshire.

Clarkson, 54, will apparently "be thanked for his work on the hugely popular motoring show, but will be told such behaviour cannot be tolerated at the Corporation", the Telegraph reported.

The popular presenter was suspended on March 10 and the three remaining episodes of the current season of Top Gear have been cancelled. Four Top Gear Live shows to have taken place on March 27 and 28 have been postponed.

Lord Hall, the director general of the BBC, is expected to announce his verdict later today, Wednesday March 25.
