Record response to open houses

The heat didn't seem to keep people away from the open houses over the weekend. Better Homes reported receiving the most calls ever in a single day on Saturday's open house at Discovery Gardens, resulting in the rental of more than 50 units. LLJ also seemed happy with its first open house in Abu Dhabi. Were you there? Tell us about it at cranecountry@thenational.ae. Meanwhile, brokers' reports after the jump.

From Kosta Giannopoulos, manager of residential sales and leasing at Better Homes:

The market for leasing was extremely hot on Saturday due to a special one day offer we had for apartments at Discovery Gardens. We were offering the lowest prices ever available in Discovery Gardens plus two weeks free rent and the rent could be paid in twelve cheques. Our call centre received the largest amount of incoming calls ever in one day. It was an extremely busy day which saw over 50 units reserved with deposits. Tenants can now still lease at the same prices and can pay in four cheques.

From Andrea Menown, the leasing manager at LLJ Property in Abu Dhabi:

It went very well, with a steady flow of interest throughout the day, and a mix of local, families and passersby. Some were inquiring about the property, and some about the furniture. And we actually booked two units, which was great. There were 10 units in the building in total. I think we will continue to run an open day. Next time round, we might even look to have it a little bit later on in the day, because people tended to drift in later, so it may be a case of something that would be worth holding during the week on a weeknight evening.
