With Hollywood’s dire run of movie remakes recently, it is understandable if Jumanji fans are awaiting the new version with trepidation.
With an A-list cast led by Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart, the film aims to pick up where the 1995 box office hit, featuring the late Robin Williams, left off.
Titled Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and due for release in the United States on December 20, the film also features American pop-star Nick Jonas.
He reassures fans the new version won’t be a total departure from the original.
"What is great about the new film is the respect for the original," he says. "We love that film and we wanted to make sure that everyone knows that it is a continuation of that story. I think it will be a fun film for everybody."
Jonas says the film involved a three-month shoot Hawaii beginning in September last year.
I remember when I first got the call that they wanted me to read for it I was blown away, because I was a huge fan of the original films which, off course had Robin Williams who was so amazing in that, he recalls.
It was a great experience. We were out in Hawaii with awesome people like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Heart.
