The British singer Leona Lewis revealed she made the original recording Rihanna's hit song We Found Love, penned by the Scottish DJ Calvin Harris. "It was the same version and production but mine's better," she told The Daily Star. "I still have the recording but I'd never leak it. That's so unprofessional. There are so many songs I've recorded, only to hear other people singing them." Lewis's latest album, Glassheart, was released online on Sunday.

Beyoncé signals Super Bowl halftime gig

The pop diva Beyoncé all but confirmed on Tuesday that she will be performing the much-watched halftime show at the Super Bowl. She appeared in a photograph posted on her Tumblr page with "Feb 3 2013" - the date of the American football classic - stencilled on her cheekbones. "Countdown to touchdown," read the accompanying headline. Pending a formal announcement, ESPN said on its website that Beyoncé, 31, would be the youngest halftime act in nearly a decade. She sang the national anthem at the 2004 Super Bowl in her hometown of Houston. * AFP

Foxx: Tarantino film takes slavery seriously

Jamie Foxx says his next movie Django Unchained, directed by Quentin Tarantino and co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L Jackson, doesn't gloss over slavery, after a reporter asked if the film was "Kill Bill meets slavery". "This is the truest depiction of slavery on screen, in terms of how brutal it was. It's really going to make people look at that time in a different way," Foxx told the LA Times. "We deal with the political, but we're not trying to cure slavery."

Christoph Waltz to play Mikhail Gorbachev

Christoph Waltz has been cast to play the former Soviet Union head of state Mikhail Gorbachev in the forthcoming film Reykjavik. The movie, directed by Mike Newell, centres on a week in 1986 when Ronald Reagan (to be played by Michael Douglas) and Gorbachev went to a spa in Iceland to settle on a peace accord that signalled the end of the Cold War. Filming begins in March.

Fincher turns to Kickstarter for next film

The Academy Award-nominated director David Fincher is hoping to use the crowd funding website Kickstarter to help fund his next project, a feature-length animated adaptation of the popular graphic novel The Goon. Fincher is hoping to raise US$400,000 (Dh1.5 million) to produce a story reel which he will then use to pitch to Hollywood executives. Paul Giamatti has signed on to voice the lead role.

Bieber turns style icon for Adidas NEO

Justin Bieber has teamed up with the Adidas NEO Label to be its new endorser, in a two-year partnership with the German sportswear company. The Canadian pop star, who cites James Dean as his fashion idol, says the collaboration is a "perfect fit because we both believe in being young, free and making our own style". Bieber is currently on his Believe world tour, which makes a stop in Dubai on May 4. * AP
