Dubai features prominently in the new trailer for the forthcoming Star Trek Beyond, which on shot on location and on the sound stages in the city in October.
The crash site at DIFC seems to play a central role in the movie, and things don’t look to be going too well for Kirk and company. It looks like the Enterprise has crash landed, and Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk notes in the voice over: “No ship, no crew, how are we going to get out of this one?”
With extensive green screen shooting having also taken place at Dubio Studio City’s sounstages, and a vast set at Meydan having successfully evaded the prying eyes of cameras so far, its hard to say exactly how much of the trailer is shot in Dubai, though insider sources at Dubai International Film Festival this week told us that director Justin Lin had revealed that the Meydan scenes would be among the very first in the movie.
Bonus points are also awarded for the use of the Beastie Boys' 1994 classic Sabotage as the soundtrack to the trailer.
