Award winning American documentary filmmaker Ross McEwlee will lead a series of workshops on making documentaries on children in Dubai next month.

McEwlee will be joined by Yemane Demissie of New York University and casting director Nancy Bishop for sessions on ‘Children and Cinema’, the theme of the sixth edition of Documentary Voices.

Documentary Voices, a not-for-profit initiative to promote film education, has teamed up with International Horizons College in Dubai to host the classes at Total Arts- Courtyard Gallery-and AM Studio in Al Quoz from December 7 to 14.

Demissie will conduct a five day master class from December 9 to 14 to teach participants how to produce documentaries on youth based topics. Bishop will talk about international market and casting children and young adults in films. McEwlee will give two lectures, which will be followed by a film screening and questions and answer session on December 12 and 13.

This year, organisers will be screening the documentaries made by the participants and award the best team at the end of the workshop as well.

Lectures by McEwlee and Bishop are free. The workshop by Demissie is Dh1250. For more information, email admin@documentaryvoices.com / info@documentaryvoices.com or call 0566454622
