Get ready for some Greek folklore told with aerialists, acrobats and dancers on a larger-than-life set when Varekai by Cirque du Soleil hits Dubai this month.
Varekai — Tales of the Forest is a touring show by the Montreal-based production company which reimagines the story of Icarus from Greek mythology and his encounters with exotic creatures when he falls from the sky into a lush forest. The production will be staged at Dubai World Trade Centre from September 16 until 26.
The set for Varekai-which means “wherever” in Romani or Gypsy language-has been created by Stephane Roy and has a forest that consists of 330 trees, of which around 20 are climbable.
The show has visited more than 72 cities and has been watched by over eight million people around the world. The show is a tribute to traditional circus, with a fusion of drama and acrobatics.
Tickets for the show at Dubai World Trade Centre are priced from Dh245 and are available on www.tixbox.com
