Upcoming music talents could win the chance to perform to a crowd of thousands at this year’s Beats on the Beach festival, with the launch of a new UAE talent search.
Described by organisers Flash as “the ultimate opportunity for local bands”, the Emerging Talent Competition invites acts to compete for a stage slot at the huge Yasalam event, hosted at Abu Dhabi Corniche during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, November 27-29.
Known for attracting crowds which number into the tens-of-thousands, last year's festival was headlined by the likes of Rita Ora and Jason Derulo.
Judged just on the basis of an online application, the winning act will also be invited to perform at The Village, du Arena at the 2015 After-Race Concerts, and could be in line for warm-up slots at future Yas Island gigs.
As well as these career-making live appearances, winners will benefit from studio time, styling guidance, media training and TV coverage – everything to set an act on to the road to stardom.
In addition educational sessions will be offered from “competition ambassadors” including local success stories Clarita de Quiroz, Kamal Musallam, Jae Franklin, and Radio 1 personality Saif and Sound.
John Lickrish, CEO at FLASH Entertainment, said: “Since its inception, FLASH has been committed to placing Abu Dhabi at the forefront of the music industry from global superstars to local talent.
“From Beats on the Beach 2015 to The Village, du Arena stage, we’ve sought out the best of the UAE talent, and today we are excited to introduce the next stage in our music evolution, the Emerging Talent Competition.”
Entrants will be judged by Flash vice president of operations, Lee Charteris, veteran TV composer Reiner Erlings and UAE rock hero Jay Wud.
The Emerging Talent Competition is open to all UAE acts over the age of 16. Apply before midnight on October 3 at www.yasalam.ae.
