A play originally written by French poet Edmond Rostand in 1897 will be staged by Dubai-based Raw Theatre at Ductac this weekend.

The British TV actor James Gaddas, best known for his roles in Bad Girls and Coronation Street, has directed Cyrano de Bergerac, a romantic play about a cadet conscious of his extremely large nose, which make him doubt his talents as a musician and prevent him from falling in love. The plot is loosely based on the life of Bergerac, a 17th-century French dramatist.

This is Raw Theatre’s first large-scale production in the Emirate.

The production in Dubai, which draws from a version created by the poet Glyn Maxwell, will feature 12 actors playing a variety of characters. The play has been supervised by Ben Moult, who was the stage manager for the West End production of Lion King.

The show will run at Ductac from Thursday until Saturday. Tickets are priced from Dh120 and can be booked on www.ductac.org. For more information, visit Raw Theatre Productions on Facebook
