Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have taken to Twitter to clear the air over news about a controversy involving Jaya Bachchan's recent criticism of his latest blockbuster Happy New Year. Khan's latest tweet on the subject includes a link to a report accompanied by the words: "Have not read a more crappy, made up piece of journalism lately".

Indian media reports claimed that Khan was "annoyed" at a comment by the veteran actress, who is the wife of India's top Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan. Making an appearance last week at the Mumbai Literature Festival, Jaya reportedly said Happy New Year is "a nonsensical film" and would not have bothered watching it if her son, Abhishek Bachchan, hadn't been a part of the movie.

The Bachchans and Khan claim the words were taken out of context.
