Avicii set to finally return to UAE with gig in Dubai

Two years after cancelling his last scheduled UAE gig — Avicii is finally coming back to town.

The globetrotting EDM sensation will perform at Dubai World Trade Centre on April 1 — but we are assured the news is no April’s fool.

Good things clearly do come to those who wait, with the show falling almost exactly 24 months since the Swedish star was forced to pull out of a gig at Nasimi Beach in October 2012, after undergoing emergency surgery to remove his gall bladder and appendix.

The announcement comes after Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, pledged he would make up for the cancelled gig when we caught up with him backstage at Morocco's Mawazine Festival last summer.

One of the hottest EDM concert draws on the planet, the 26-year-old DJ currently sits at number seven on DJ Mag's Top 100 poll with cross over hits including Hey Brother, Wake Me Up and Levels.

The 10,000-capacity concert will take place at the newly built Zabeel Halls 4 and 5.

To register for limited early bird tickets, priced Dh295, head to peppermint-experience.com. General tickets sales, priced Dh395, go on sale at noon on Thursday, February 11, from platinumlist.net and Virgin Tickets or in store from all Virgin Megastores. VIP table packages are available by calling 050 357 1113.

Ziina users can donate to relief efforts in Beirut

Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless. Ziina has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to raise money for the Lebanese capital, co-founder Faisal Toukan says. “As of October 1, the UNHCR has the first certified badge on Ziina and is automatically part of user's top friends' list during this campaign. Users can now donate any amount to the Beirut relief with two clicks. The money raised will go towards rebuilding houses for the families that were impacted by the explosion.”
