At the end of a quiet summer for art, we are looking forward now to a month of intense activity on the art scene.Next week sees the opening of nearly all Dubai's galleries with some top notch shows but it also brings with it some sad news. Ara Gallery in Downtown Dubai, known for its sometimes traditional shows and its light and airy space, is closing its doors at the end of this week and a restaurant will be taking its place. This is some sadness to art fans in the Downtown area particularly but with a ramp up on public art we hope that balances out the loss.

In other news, XVA Gallery in DIFC will be closing its doors at the end of November when their three year lease runs out. XVA started life as an art gallery, hotel and cafe in the then Bastakyia neighbourhood and that is where it will be returning. The hotel and cafe never left the historical area now know as Al Fahidi and now they are doubling in size to make room for the new expanded gallery. We look forward to seeing the new space.
