Expect a new AC/DC tour later in the year.

Screeching frontman Brian Johnson announced he is taking a break from his television show, Cars That Rock, to record some new tunes with the group in a Vancouver studio.

A new run of show, their first since the 2010 completion of their successful Black Ice Tour, is to be announced before the end of the year.

"Hello everyone, I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words about Cars That Rock," he wrote at www.brianjohnsonracing.com.

"Your encouragement means a lot to me. This was my first ever go at presenting a TV series and even though it may not show, I was real nervous and so am very relieved that you all seem to be enjoying it. We hope to bring you more shows in the near future but, of course, there is the slight distraction of my day job with AC/DC — and it looks very likely that we will be on the road again before the end of the year. So stand by for more music — and more Cars That Rock.

The band recently quashed break-up rumours due to guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young leaving AC/DC for health reasons.

Stevie Young has been announced as his uncle’s replacement.
