Abu Dhabi Classics cancels two concerts from the China Philharmonic Orchestra

The penultimate concerts of the 2015/16 season of Abu Dhabi Classics have been cancelled.

The China Philharmonic Orchestra, with featured artists Long Yu and Jian Wang, were set to perform programmes of Western classics and traditional Chinese material, at Emirates Palace on May 9 and in Al Ain on May 10.

Both performances have been cancelled for "unforeseen circumstances", a spokesman from organisers TCA told The National.

The season will conclude with Matthias Goerne performing Schubert's classic song cycle for voice and piano, Winterreise.

A later statement said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances the China Philharmonic Orchestra will now not be appearing in Abu Dhabi to perform two scheduled concerts as part of the Abu Dhabi Classics international concert season.

“TCA Abu Dhabi apologies for any inconvenience caused. Full refunds will be available from Ticketmaster for any tickets already purchased.

“This season of Abu Dhabi Classics ends as planned on May 16 with a concert by Matthias Goerne at Manarat Al Saadiyat.”
