The one-minute clip titled Twice Upon a Time sees the Twelfth Doctor come face-to-face with the First Doctor

The Doctor Who Christmas special trailer has been released online and will show Peter Capaldi's final outing as the Twelfth Doctor.

The one-minute clip titled Twice Upon a Time sees Capaldi coming face-to-face with the First Doctor (played by David Bradley) — both of who are stuck in a moment in time. It also shows the return of the Time Lord's companion Bill Potts (played by Pearl Mackie).

The episode is also notable for being show-runner Steven Moffat’s final episode. Capaldi has played the Doctor for the last three seasons and took over the role from Matt Smith who left the show in 2013.

Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker was recently announced as the Thirteenth Doctor and will become the first woman to play the longstanding role.
