National Geographic Abu Dhabi continues its mission to create content for the local audience with The Emergence of a Union, a new documentary specially commissioned for National Day.
The film takes viewers on a journey through history, from pre-unification times to the present day, when the country is a key hub for commerce, tourism, technology, travel and trade.
It also features personal accounts and memories of the past 45 years from some of the people who have lived through them. “Abu Dhabi Media is dedicated to producing compelling and intelligent content that shares the UAE’s important contributions and achievements with the world,” says Abdul Hadi Al Sheikh, the executive director of television at Nat Geo Abu Dhabi parent company Abu Dhabi Media, which also owns The National.
“The Emergence of a Union encapsulates this vision, combining emotional and personal stories of the development of the UAE with spectacular visuals and an engaging narrative.”
Marlain Daniel, director of content and partnerships at National Geographic Abu Dhabi, adds: “National Geographic Abu Dhabi takes viewers on a journey down memory lane.
“This is a journey filled with emotion, pride and special moments. What did the union of the emirates mean? What has been accomplished, how did it affect people and how is it changing lives today?
“The film asks these questions and gives the viewers a personal experience at a deeper level than one could gain from reading about these historic events.”
• The Emergence of a Union is on National Geographic Abu Dhabi at 3pm tomorrow, National Day, with a repeat at 10pm
