American singer-songwriter Jason Derulo will be flying into the UAE once again, this time to host the Middle East’s flagship Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Abu Dhabi, which will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on September 20.

The Want to Want Me singer will co-host the event with travel YouTuber Haifa Beseisso, a Palestinian who was raised in Dubai.

The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards is coming to Abu Dhabi as part of a five-year deal between the Department of Culture and Tourism and Viacom, the owner of Nickelodeon.

It is the first version of the globally renowned kids event to be staged in the region, and will feature musical and entertainment performances.

"I'm honoured to be hosting the first Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in Abu Dhabi!" said Derulo, who has performed in the UAE and visited the country a number of times before. "We've got a thrilling show planned, and I can’t wait to be onstage celebrating with the kids."

Beseisso, who graduated from the American University in Dubai and now charts her travels on her popular YouTube channel Fly With Haifa, said she is "super excited to be on that stage, share some serious love, colour, slime and just have a fantastic time at the first Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in the Middle East! We're going to have fun, Arab style."

Tracey Grant, vice president of content and channels for Viacom International Media Networks Middle East, added: “This show will combine the Arab entertainment world with the international Nickelodeon spirit and these two key elements are sure to make the first KCA Abu Dhabi a success.”

The Kids’ Choice Awards Abu Dhabi are part of Abu Dhabi Family Week, which is being organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) – Abu Dhabi to bring a series of activities for kids and families to the city.

DCT Abu Dhabi said it will also launch additional events and activities to run alongside the award ceremony and the already announced The World of Nickelodeon, which will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from September 19 to 21.

For those who cannot attend, the event will air exclusively on Nickelodeon on OSN in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain on September 24, as well as on Nickelodeon channels internationally.
