Jaime Lannister may be known as the Kingslayer in the hit TV show, but it was the Stark family ruling the red carpet at last night's premiere for the final season of Game of Thrones.

Stars from the HBO fantasy epic congregated in Belfast on Friday, to fete the show's eighth series, which will air from April 14.

Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington and Isaac Hempstead Wright were among the actors on the red carpet, representing some of the members of the show's Stark family.

The Northern Irish city's Waterfront Hall was the venue for the evening, with cast members Liam Cunningham, Jacob Anderson, Jerome Flynn and Carice van Houten also in attendance.

Various locations across Northern Ireland have been used as locations for Game of Thrones shooting, with Belfast also hosting Game of Thrones: The Touring Exhibition until September.

The final series of the HBO fantasy-action hit, which first aired in 2011, will comprise six 90-minute, movie-style episodes, with the first screened at the most recent premiere.

"It's a surge of relief finishing it and it's a surge of fear finishing it and it's a surge of joy and pride," Harington, who portrays Jon Snow, told the Hollywood Reporter from the red carpet.

"It’s so many feelings wrapped into one. I don’t know how to sum it up. There are no words to describe it.”
