The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have teamed up with British cook Mary Berry for A Berry Royal Christmas, a festive BBC special.

The programme will see the royals take on baking challenges with the culinary legend, as well as visiting charity initiatives the royals have been working on.

In the show, the royal couple will show Berry around three of the causes and charities they are involved with. It will finish with the trio cooking food for a festive party held for staff and volunteers.

"It will be truly special to see the causes so close to their hearts, as well as to hear all about the amazing support these charities provide," Berry said of working with the royals, ahead of filming.

"We invite you to join the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Mary Berry as they serve a festive feast to thank those who are spending their Christmas helping others," Kensington Palace's Instagram announcement read.

"[A Berry Royal Christmas] culminates in a Christmas party, hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to thank and acknowledge staff and volunteers from charities and organisations who will be working tirelessly over the Christmas period."

In the accompanying photo, the royals pose with yule logs that they have prepared, presumably with the help of Berry and 2015 Great British Bake Off winner, Nadiya Hussain.

During the show, they will visit three charity initiatives, including The Brink, the UK’s first dry bar set up by Action on Addiction, and The Passage Charity's centre. The Passage Charity is the UK’s largest resource centre for homeless people, providing accommodation for more than 130,000 people in need and working on homelessness prevention projects.

The third cause sees Berry and the Duchess of Cambridge partner up to visit RHS Garden Wisley, where they cooked healthy treats and discussed the duchess’s "commitment to the early years in raising the next generation of happy, healthy children".

A Berry Royal Christmas will air on Monday, December 16 at 8.30pm (GMT) on BBC One in the UK. It is not yet clear if it will air in the UAE.
