Opera season is just around the corner, and the announcements from Dubai Opera just keep coming. The latest news from the heart of culture in Dubai is that The Polish National Opera will bring the country's rich opera heritage to Dubai next February with two opera classics, Eugene Onegin and Aida.

A tragic tale of forbidden love composed by Giuseppe Verdi, Aida is certain to captivate audiences at Dubai Opera from the February 14 to 17 next year.

The story follows the struggle and heartache between Nubian princess, Aida and the Egyptian warrior Radamès and is set to take audiences on a journey of love and loyalty and will be performed in beautiful Italian with English surtitles.

The company’s second opera is an intense, passionate story about love, but with friendship and rejection woven in. Eugene Onegin is a favourite of opera audiences around the world, and guests will surely appreciate the musical score composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Performed in Russian with English subtitles on the February 22 and 23, the story follows the highs and lows of a sophisticated yet selfish man who lives to regret his rejection of a young woman’s love.

According to the boss of Dubai Opera, Jasper Hope The Polish National Opera “is truly grand”.

“Both Aida and Eugene Onegin are classics enjoyed regularly around the world by opera lovers and it's very exciting to be able to stage two epic productions back-to-back on the Dubai Opera stage next February,” Hope adds. “The Polish National Opera is one of Europe's finest companies and we're honoured to welcome them to Dubai Opera for the first time.”

Tickets are now on sale for Aida and Eugene Onegin, with prices starting at just Dh350.

The Dubai Opera season 2017/2018 starts on September 7 with Mozart, the Marriage of Figaro and includes a diverse selection of production and performances. For more go to www.dubaiopera.com
