One of the benefits of having a team co-owned by a superstar is a hit anthem. While the cricket side Kolkata Knight Riders sit in the middle of the Indian Premiere League Table, its official song Laphao is riding high on social media courtesy of Shah Rukh Khan's appearance in the music video. Rapped by Badshah, the song is a thumping ode to the side and is destined to be an enduring cry to rally the club's "toofani fans." Due to pandemic, the video is made up of a collection of footage which has been cut together, including a montage of the side’s sporting triumphs, an astronaut landing on the moon holding the team’s banner and Badshah rapping from a regal living room. Clad in black and walking down a windswept road, Khan appears towards the end of the video to deliver a brooding spoken word verse about the passion that comes with being a fan of the side. The man means it, too. Khan's investment in Kolkata Night Riders is not only financial. The Bollywood legend is a fervent supporter and was spotted watching his side fight it out on the pitch in Abu Dhabi this month. When announcing the song during an Instagram live chat with fans, Khan said the song is dedicated to the fans. “I have been attending the matches and I truly miss the energy of our toofani fans,” he said. “Since we have to show our love to each other, we created a fan anthem that captures the emotions of all our fans aptly".
