London’s Royal Philharmonic team up with Emirati musicians for National Day anthem

UAE National Day will be celebrated on an inspired note courtesy of a new anthem.

Titled Legacy of Our Ancestors, the sweeping orchestral piece is performed by more than 80 members, including Emirati musicians and players from London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The piece be unveiled as part of the backing score to a lavish theatrical show celebrating National Day on Monday, December 2, at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports Stadium.

"Music is a key component of any theatrical production and the original score for Legacy of Our Ancestors will elevate the overall impact and beauty of the production," said Saeed Al Suwaidi, from the organising committee of the Official 48th UAE National Day Celebration.

“The UAE is a harmonious and tolerant home to hundreds of nationalities and cultures, which has influenced the composition of the original score. The soundtrack will be rooted in the Emirates, with contributions by some of the world’s leading composers and musicians.”

Al Suwaidi said the theatre piece will be ‘an unprecedented audiovisual experience.” The performance stage will be 100 square meters, featuring more than 2,500 LED lights and up 20 large screens up to 12 meters high.
