Kareena Kapoor to model at Lakmé Fashion Week

The Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor is likely to appear on the catwalk for Lakmé Fashion Week, to be held in Mumbai between August 3 and 7, said the organiser Purnima Lamba. "Kareena walked for Manish Malhotra two seasons ago. This time she might walk for the designer Kallol Datta or the duo Pankaj & Nidhi," said Lamba. "Kareena is very excited. She might be Lakmé's showstopper." * IANS

Deepika Padukone praises Rajinikath

The actress Deepika Padukone, who's currently working with the veteran actor Rajinikath in the forthcoming Tamil period film Kochadaiyaan, says she admires the superstar's enthusiasm on set. "I have never seen an actor more excited than him. He comes on set with full energy. He greets everyone. He and Amitji [Amitabh Bachchan] are the two actors I've come across who are so excited, you can see the passion in their eyes," said the 26-year-old actress. Kochadaiyaan is being directed by Rajinikath's daughter Soundarya Ashwin and is set for a December release in India. * IANS

Kashyap retrospective in Hamburg

Bollywood fans in Hamburg will be treated to five movies by the acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap, as part of a film retrospective that runs until Monday at the Metropolis Cinema, held as part of the German city's India Week 2012. The retrospective will open with his 2009 noir film Dev.D, followed by the screening of both parts of his recent hit Gangs of Wasseypur, the 2011 thriller That Girl in Yellow Boots and 2004's Black Friday, about the 1993 Mumbai bombings. "I'm very honoured to be presenting all my films in Hamburg," Kashyap said in a statement. He'll be attending the event, organised to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Germany. * IANS

Suparn Verma casts Siddiqui in thriller

The filmmaker Suparn Verma announced he has cast the actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui to headline his new thriller Aatma. It will be the first lead role for the 38-year-old actor, who appeared in this year's Gangs of Wasseypur. "It will be a very interesting role for Nawaz. When we first met, he just fell in love with the film," says Verma. "We will now be doing workshops, because it's a very intense character that involves shedding inhibitions." The film, which begins shooting next week in Mumbai, also stars Bipasha Basu. * IANS

Ranbir Kapoor no go for vampire flick

It was earlier rumoured that the actor Ranbir Kapoor has been cast as the lead in Bloody Veer, Bollywood's first take on the vampire film genre. But the movie's producer Siddharth Jain insisted they have not yet signed any actors: "Nothing has been finalised. Ranbir is not in the film - it was all media speculation. We're looking for a fresh, young star." Directed by Heeraz Marfatia, the film begins production in January. * IANS
