Atif Aslam has been announced as the main headliner of Abu Dhabi’s T10 cricket tournament opening ceremony.

The Pakistani pop star is regular concert drawcard in the UAE, and will return to perform a range of hits at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Thursday, November 14.

He leads a star-studded line-up that includes Indian models Nora Fatehi and Parvati Nair, Bangladeshi actor Sakhib Khan and Indian actor Hussain Kuwajerwala, who will serve as the evening’s host.

Despite the pedigree of the celebrities, it will be Aslam who should elicit the most cheers.

Born in the Pakistani industrial city of Wazirabad, Aslam remains one of the few artists from his homeland to cross over to India where he is a household name.

From self-funding his debut single, 2003's Aadat, as a university student, Aslam went on to rack up plenty of hits including Tera Hone Laga Hoon, Tere Liye and Be Inteha.

Aslam has been nominated for a range of Bollywood awards, including five nods for the Best Playback Singer by Filmfare and three from the Indian International Film Awards. At home, he won gongs at the Pakistan Media Awards in 2010, and the Big Apple Music Awards in 2014 and 2015. He was also among the first celebrities to be awarded with a Dubai Star this week.

The first match of the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament, featuring titleholders Northern Warriors against Maratha Arabians, will begin Friday, November 15.
