Ed Sheeran told fans via Instagram that he had a bicycle injury and posted a photo of his arm in a cast - an injury which puts his upcoming Dubai show in jeopardy. But this isn't the only incident to befall the accident-prone pop star.
September 2013 - cut his hand in a karaoke bar
Whilst out to karaoke with Gavin DeGraw in Nashville, Sheeran cut his hand so badly he was rushed to hospital. The circumstances surrounding the incident have not been explained, but he did post this picture to his Instagram account
Mid-2015 - burst ear drum jumping off a yacht
Jumping off a yacht in Spain, the singer landed in the water at a precarious angle and burst his ear drum. “I have to have an operation in January on my ear because I stupidly jumped off a yacht really high up and smashed it,” he told Australia's Nova radio.
February 2016 - walks into a volcano
The singer celebrated his 25th birthday by stepping into a boiling geezer on top of a volcano in Iceland. “I have a lot of accidents,” he told Ellen DeGeneres on her show in February 2017, “because I’m a bit of a clumsy idiot, and we were up on top of a volcano.” There was a hot spring where he stood, “and my foot slipped in. I’ve never had the feeling of dying before,” he said, and when he stepped in he thought, “That’s it.” The water flooded into his boot and to try and ease the pain he asked his companions to take it and his sock off. “And as they peeled it off, all the skin came with it.” The singer could not walk after and had to have multiple skin grafts.
November 2016 - face cut open with sword by Britain's Princess Beatrice
A dinner party prank went horribly wrong, when Princess Beatrice, who was pretending to knight singer James Blunt, swung a ceremonial sword and nicked Sheeran, who was standing behind her, on the cheek. Sheeran was rushed to hospital for stitches.
Mid-2017 - smacks Justin Bieber in the face with a golf club
While this shouldn't strictly shouldn't be on the list, because Sheeran did not sustain an injury, we felt it was important to include, because of its sheer weirdness. Following a night on the town in Tokyo, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber were practising their golf. "I had this driving wedge and I [teed up] and I cracked him across the face!’ he told James Corden during an episode of Car Pool Karaoke. "[Justin was] actually really cool about it, surprisingly."
