DJ Tiesto is set to play the midnight slot at the Expo 2020 Dubai closing ceremony on Thursday.
The Kaleidoscope producer joins a stellar line-up that includes cellist Yo-Yo Ma , and singers Norah Jones and Christina Aguilera .
Grammy-winner Ma will perform at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre at 8.45pm. Jones’s set will overlap with Ma’s as the Chasing Pirates singer is expected to take to the Jubilee Stage at 9pm.
Aguilera will then perform at the Jubilee Stage at 10.45pm, followed by DJ Tiesto at 11.45pm.
The Expo 2020 Dubai closing ceremony will run throughout the night, with firework displays at midnight and 3am.
The celebrations are included in the price of the entrance ticket.
Screens will be set up in areas such as the main stages, Festival Garden and various country pavilions.
Organisers said the screens would "enable everyone to experience the magic”.
What to expect from the Expo 2020 Dubai closing ceremony The evening's festivities will begin at 7pm with Mira Singh , 12, the Dubai-born girl who starred in the opening ceremony . The one-hour event will have an Emirati soul that will touch on a global experience, organisers said.
A 10-minute section called the "garden of memories" will show highlights from Expo.
“The opening ceremony was iconic, our closing ceremony will be as iconic,” said Tareq Ghosheh, chief events and entertainment officer at Expo.
At the end of the show, the Expo flag will be handed over to the organisers of the next world's fair, in Osaka, Japan .
The cast of the closing event includes more than 400 professionals and volunteers from 56 different countries, with 745 costumes created for the culmination of Expo 2020.
“For the closing, the sunset is not the end,” Amna Abulhoul, executive creative director of Expo’s events and entertainment, said. “It is just the beginning of something new where we will see beauty in the darkness.”
