Aladdin star Naomi Scott wants to bring a whole new world to the UAE, quite literally.

The British-Indian actress and singer, who delivered a star turn as Princess Jasmine in the new live-action musical reboot and which is out now in UAE cinemas, told The National she would be thrilled if the song was played at the iconic Dubai Fountain.

The actress is also no stranger to Dubai, having performed a private show in the Emirate in 2013 where she caught up with family.

“My auntie works in Dubai, and she's an incredibly successful businesswoman,” she said. “It was wonderful to go out there, and it was such an amazing experience, so who knows? I'd definitely love to go back.”

On playing the role of Princess Jasmine

When it comes to her portrayal of Princess Jasmine, Scott explains that she wanted to update the character.

“I was really specific about humanizing and giving her own narrative and journey,” she said. “For me, watching the original movie growing up, she was one of my favourite Disney princesses, and I think I was really empowered, you know? But I think there's always room to progress those themes and make her even more ambitious.”
