Malayalam movie star Mammootty made an appearance at Dalma Mall in Abu Dhabi on Friday, January 26, where he was greeted by a crowd of more than 25,000 people. The star was in town for the UAE premiere of his movie Street Lights.  He was accompanied by co-stars Soubin Shahir, Sohan Seenu Lal, Rajashekar, and director Shamdat.

Mammooty, 66, takes the role of James, a crime branch police officer who deals with the gritty reality of life on the streets.

The film has two versions: one shot in Tamil and the other in Malayalam, and while the supporting cast is different in each film, both star Mammootty.

Mammootty, or Mammookka as he is nicknamed, was welcomed with a red carpet and he told the crowd that they were the largest audience he has addressed in his 36-year-long cinema career.
