For fans of a period drama, the film they have been waiting years for is almost here: the Downton Abbey movie.
The British turn-of-the-century drama, which will be released this month, picks off where ITV's series six left off. The show was known for blending historical events with TV drama, and everything from the sinking of the Titanic, the fight for suffrage, the horrors of the Battle of the Somme and the Irish War of Independence were all portrayed in the show.
The film will check in with the Crawley family in 1927, with the plot revolving around a visit from King George V and Queen Mary.
Simon Jones plays the British king and Geraldine James portrays his wife; both actors were on the London red carpet last night, as the cast and crew celebrated the film's world premiere.

A flock of familiar faces also turned out for the glamorous event, with Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith Pelham), Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) and Elizabeth McGovern (Lady Cora) all on the red carpet, along with fan favourites Allen Leech (Tom Branson), Hugh Bonneville (Earl Robert Crawley) and Sophie McShera (Daisy Mason).
So far, the film has received lukewarm responses. Some critics have described it as "vanilla", others as a "glorified Christmas special". One theme prevails through the reviews, however: if you're a Downton fan, you're likely to enjoy taking this nostalgic trip back in time.
The movie is set to be released in UAE cinemas on Thursday, September 19.
