Flooding has displaced more than one million people in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala and killed more than 400.
In the wake of the devastation, some of Bollywood's biggest stars have joined relief efforts. Reports say Shah Rukh Khan has donated Rs 21 lakh (Dh110,000), while Jacqueline Fernandez has given Rs 5 lakh (Dh26,279) to relief efforts.
Stars have taken to social media to try and encourage fans to contribute to the fund.
Amitabh Bachchan tweeted:

Filmmaker Priyadarshan tweeted about handing over a cheque consisting of donations he and actor Akshay Kumar made to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund:

Alia Bhatt called the situation "heart breaking" and asked for donations to the relief fund:

Millions of dollars in donations have poured in from India and abroad since the extent of the devastation became known. An Indian newspaper's front page went viral after it thanked the UAE for helping with flood relief efforts.
