Dubai Opera is set to host a film marathon over the summer months, welcoming its first Disney Movie Festival from August 15 to August 30. The Downtown Dubai venue will screen four classic Disney movies every day across those two weeks, with daily screenings at 9.30am, 1pm, 4.30pm and 8pm.

There will also be one-off special events taking place, including a special sing-along version of Beauty and the Beast held on August 16. This event will invite fans of the 1991 animated classic to come along and watch a screening of the movie while belting out their own versions of songs from the film, which received three separate Oscar nominations for Best Original Song for Belle, Be Our Guest, and Beauty and the Beast. The third song, performed by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson, ultimately picked up the award.

Other films screening as part of the Disney celebration will be a selection of animated and live-action Disney gems. The animated movies include The Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan, Cinderella, The Aristocats and Ratatouille.

Live-action highlights include Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mary Poppins and Cool Runnings.

There's even an entry from somewhere in between the animation and live-action worlds with everyone's favourite puppets taking to the stage at 1pm on Tuesday, August 20 in Muppet Treasure Island, and again with the ground-breaking live-action/computer-animation mash-up Tron at 4.30pm on Saturday, August 24.

Tickets for individual screenings start from Dhs60 for adults and Dhs40 for children. The truly dedicated can invest in a full festival pass which will allow them to see all 48 films for Dh495 for adults and Dh295 for kids. Children under two and nannies go free.
