What to expect from Dubai International Financial Centre’s first Art Nights event of 2017

Avoca Avocado by Georgres Mohasseb, Art Sawa is hosting a debut exhibition in Dubai for this acclaimed architect and designer who is seeking to find a fine balance between materiality and immateriality.

Wild Relatives by Sir Tony Cragg at DIFC. The recently knighted English sculptor has enjoyed a career that spans 40 years, thanks to pieces which intrigue and inspire interaction. The celebrated sculptor’s work has been brought to Dubai by DIFC and Alserkal Avenue-based Leila Heller Gallery.

Sand Talks, by Francesca Matarazzo di Licosa. A form of artistic expression which features sequences of words and symbols laid out with apparent randomness.

Pursuit of Abjad by Nedaa Elias. A thought-provoking work that addresses the loss of Arabic script use, with hand-crafted Arabic letter bricks being used to represent a combination of modernity and culture.

The Everlasting Roots by Abbas Kiarostami. The Farjam Foundation’s March edition of exhibitions celebrates the life and visual legacy of renowned film director, photographer, painter and poet, Abbas Kiarostami.

Afshin Pirhashemi. Iranian artist Pirhashemi uses allegorical expression and large scale to depict bold women in an epic story of freedom, desire, and determination. This selection is showcased at Ayyam Gallery.

Market Day by Michela Pomaro. A joyful and psychedelic installation, Italian artist Pomaro turns a seemingly traditional market scene into something quite different with the use of synthetic ceramic and varnished resin sculptures.

DIFC's first Art Nights event of 2017, Art Fresco is set to open on Monday March 13.
