On Saturday, the German-Egyptian artist Susan Hefuna will be giving a talk in Sharjah about her current exhibition Susan Hefuna: Another Place.

Hefuna’s diverse practice uses drawing, photography and video to explore the intersection between identity, social politics and place. From the grid patterns of her mashrabiya works, to the lines of her drawings and the lattice-like forms of her palm-wood towers, Hefuna reveals the importance of structure in her practice.

Another Place is her first major solo show in the region and it showcases work dating back over the last 30 years.

If you haven't been to see the exhibition yet, I highly recommend it. Hefuna's vast oeuvre populates the entire Bait Al Serkal, which she has turned into a living, breathing organism. Read my full review here.

* Susan Hefuna, A Talk with the Artist will take place at Sharjah Art Foundation on Saturday, May 31st at 5pm. All SAF events are free and open to the public.
