Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, the president and founder of Sharjah Art Foundation is the most powerful person in art in the UAE, according to Art Review, one of the world’s leading art magazines.
In the Art Review Power 100, which was released this morning, the Sheikha, is named as the 48th most influential person in the art world globally, a position which she retains from last year’s list.
She entered the Power 100 list in 2003, when she took over the curatorship of the Sharjah Biennial, that year with Peter Lewis and two years before she established the Sharjah Art Foundation.
This year, it is not surprising that she maintains her position because, as well as preparing for the next edition of the Biennial, set to open in March next year, she also just spearheaded the opening of three world class exhibitions (pictured here) and is working towards her first time as curator of the UAE’s National Pavilion at the 2015 Venice Biennale.
We are proud of our Sheikha and wish to congratulate her.
