Large scale art to be shown on a Dubai office facade

Massive reproductions of local artwork will be displayed on the façade of the headquarters of a finance company in Al Barsha. The idea came from Network International, to highlight the work of various Emirati artists and they began the initiative with Illuminant Figures, a painting by Najat Makki that is currently on display at Dubai Women’s Museum.

Makki’s elongated figures and colourful palette suit the idea well as it can be easily appreciated on a large scale. It is also a noble and interesting gesture to liven up some of the multitude of boring, grey corporate buildings that populate the city.

Abdulla Qassem, the chairman of Network International said: “Integrating art into offices and public spaces not only offers impetus to local artists, but also creates wider access to art among the UAE community. As a UAE-based company, it is our honour and privilege to contribute to the UAE’s vibrant scene by supporting its local talent.”

We look forward to seeing which artists they choose next.
