Dubai-based artist Marwan Shakarchi, who is also known as Myneandyours, is donating all proceeds from the sale of this print: ‘We Bleed as One’ to The Amar Foundation. The foundation specifically work in Iraq helping to rebuild lives destroyed by the ongoing conflict in the country.
Shakarchi, who is himself Iraqi-British, lives and works in Dubai and has a studio in Tashkeel. He says of The Amar Foundation: “It’s a fundamentally important cause and I hope I can help make a difference.”
His work, depicts a veiled girl, standing in an arched doorway cupping several of Shakarchi’s trademark clouds in her hands. The artist uses the cloud in every painting and mural that he creates. It is a symbol of hope in a sometimes dark world and also represents unity.
Each print costs US$250 and Shakarchi hopes to reach his target of US$7000 to help the foundation in their many missions.
