Anish Kapoor’s My Red Homeland (2003) is certainly one of the star art works on show at the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi’s current exhibition, The Creative Act. The massive circular base made of red, viscous wax that is being pushed around by a large mechanical arm is a great example of Kapoor’s life long investigation of scale, form, colour and materiality.
To fully understand his work, you need to experience it in person and what better chance to then, listen to two experts talking about it and Kapoor’s entire oeuvre.
Presented by the British Council and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, on Tuesday April 4 there will be a discussion moderated by Maisa Al Qassimi, the programmes manager at the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and featuring Adrian Locke, a senior curator at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
They will discuss Kapoor’s unique body of work with a focus on his monumental sculptural installations.
The talk is part of The Talking Art Series and will start at 7pm on Manarat Al Saadiyat.
Registration for the event is essential. You can do so at www.saadiyatculturaldistrict.ae or call 026575800
