Tommy Hilfiger SS15 Preview: Deluxe denims, nautical stripes and desert-inspired designs

Tommy Hilfiger’s spring/summer 2015 ready-to-wear collections feature preppy vibes and the brand’s signature red, white and blue hues, with new neutral and pastel colour combinations for the season. Unveiled at Dubai’s Meydan Beach Club, on Tuesday, there was something for everyone:biker-inspired jackets for the bold, and a range of accessories in feminine pastels. The designs were divided into two main groups, reflective of either “out on the lake” or “middle of the desert” themes.

With the lake-inspired pieces, there were clear nautical undertones with soft stripes, minimalist cuts and light parkas, as well as maritime-style Bermuda shorts, loose tunics and light knits. A classic black on white plaid print shown on a tapered pant, collarless jacket and pleated mini-skirt drew a lot of attention from guests, as did a statement thigh-length bomber jacket in ski patrol red.

For the desert collection, colours were more washed out, with shades of taupe, pebble, and pastel pink alongside muted camouflage prints appearing on skinny jeans and a mesh-like sweater. The texture play was refreshing, with white cotton eyelets, tweed-like linens and matte-with-metallic pairings. Jackets were light and unlined, ideal for warmer weather, while pants were sleek and tailored with subtle twists in the details.

In denims, a soft waterfall blazer, quilted dark denim tee and ombré button-down shirt stood out, along with a pair of patch-worked ankle-grazing jeans.

Guests were also given a sneak peek of a range of gowns in monochrome and emerald green shades. Featuring floor-length cuts with drapes and pleats, they will be exclusive to the Middle East for the month of Ramadan.
