Ten years on, Cos rises to the challenge of keeping it simple

Cos has built a reputation for simple wardrobe staples, with pieces that are affordable, well cut and versatile enough to fold into almost any outfit. It has been the go-to brand of those searching for a stylish yet unfussy aesthetic since its launch in 2007.

To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, Cos is launching a special capsule collection of 10 pieces that are, as always, designed with simplicity in mind. Offering clean separates in white or ochre, which can be mixed and matched, the team also took on a new challenge: minimising waste. The Cos designers were asked to make use of the full width of the fabric, to prevent discarded offcuts. The result is a series of loose-fitting, boxy pieces that will be perfect for the Arabian summer.

Cos creative director Karin Gustafsson explains: “The design team took the opportunity to play and experiment in the pattern-cutting process, reimagining the methods behind the design. The pattern-cutters and designers worked in parallel, referencing historical techniques that maximised the use of materials. As we look to the future, we will continue to focus on the efficient use of fabrics and forward-thinking techniques.”

Spanning both men’s, women’s and even children’s wear, the anniversary collection will be available in UAE stores from March 24.
