Though Pakistani designer Sehrish Rehan only established herself in the fashion industry about four years ago, her brand is considered one of Karachi’s most celebrated luxury labels. Her glamorous pieces are frequently worn to weddings, both in Pakistan and abroad. The brand, unfortunately, has little presence in the Gulf region, making it difficult for UAE residents to purchase the clothing — unless they make a trip to her Karachi atelier, where she sees clients by appointment only.
This weekend, however, Rehan will be taking part in the Boulevard One exhibition in Dubai. Rehan will be bringing her latest collection of semi-formal and formal pieces, giving UAE residents the opportunity to stock up on unique, contemporary weddingwear for the upcoming winter festive season.
In the designer’s latest pieces, asymmetrical cuts and glorious embellishments give an extra uplift to already beautifully woven fabrics and lace textures. Pastel hues, like powder blue and salmon pink, are given pizzazz with fringed or pearl-embellished hemlines, while soft pleating techniques, wrap-fronts and sheer, embroidered panels offer feminine glamour to traditional silhouettes.
Shop Sehrish Rehan this Saturday, October 1, from 10am-7pm at Boulevard One. The exhibition will be held at The Royal Ballroom in The Palace Downtown Dubai.

$1,000 award for 1,000 days on madrasa portal
Daily cash awards of $1,000 dollars will sweeten the Madrasa e-learning project by tempting more pupils to an education portal to deepen their understanding of math and sciences.
School children are required to watch an educational video each day and answer a question related to it. They then enter into a raffle draw for the $1,000 prize.
“We are targeting everyone who wants to learn. This will be $1,000 for 1,000 days so there will be a winner every day for 1,000 days,” said Sara Al Nuaimi, project manager of the Madrasa e-learning platform that was launched on Tuesday by the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to reach Arab pupils from kindergarten to grade 12 with educational videos.
“The objective of the Madrasa is to become the number one reference for all Arab students in the world. The 5,000 videos we have online is just the beginning, we have big ambitions. Today in the Arab world there are 50 million students. We want to reach everyone who is willing to learn.”
