Pro League: Dubai will do well to hold fire over any proposal to replace Rene Marsiglia

Over the past four seasons, no coach at Dubai club has lasted as long as their current boss, Rene Marsiglia. But can the Frenchman keep last out the season?

History is against him. The club management have shown little patience in the past and with Dubai having conceded 18 goals in four league defeats, Marsiglia knows the axe could come at any moment.

"Really, I am under a lot of pressure from everybody - from the media, from people here at the club," Marsiglia said after a 6-3 loss to Al Ahli last week.

"But I have worked with these players for nine months now and I will not leave my team in this situation. They are my responsibility - on the pitch and outside it. But if the club is planning to take another decision, I don't know."

The club have said very little about Marsiglia. But then, they said very little last season when the Argentine Nestor Clausen was shown the door after just one Etisalat Cup game. His deputy, Umberto Barberis, was in the hot seat for two matches as "caretaker" before the Romanian Ion Marin took over.

The former Dinamo Bucuresti coach lasted about two months before Dubai decided to bring back Ayman Al Ramadi, who was sacked in the previous season and replaced by Brazilian Junior dos Santos.

Dubai's bosses may have itchy fingers just now, but they would do well to have a look around before making a decision. Paulo Bonamigo's exit has not helped Al Jazira in any way while the confidence shown by the Al Shabab management has allowed Marcos Paqueta to turn things around after a shaky start.
