Hindi movie star Nayantara drew the crowds at GRT Jewellers in Dubai’s Karama district on Thursday. The 30-year-old was in town to celebrate the Indian jewellery company’s five decades in business and to unveil three sets of supersized earrings weighing more than 1kg a pair.
The 22k carat gold handcrafted pieces, which collectively are worth an estimated Dh165,000, will be on display to the public until the end of September when they will return to GRT’s factory in India.
The earrings, which are a mix of traditional Indian bridal and contemporary metalwork were made to showcase the brand’s expertise and years of crafting intricate gold pieces.
"I am incredibly pleased to be associated with GRT Jewellers and even more excited to be present on this momentous occasion." said Nayantara, star of films including Ayya and Lakshmi. "For years now I have seen the brand transcending to perfection and I personally believe that their designs add a touch of elegance and sophistication for all outfits for various occasions."
Adding extra sparkle to the evening’s proceedings, GRT rewarded shoppers who had participated in its two month long ‘Shop and Win’ promotion with diamond necklaces and 1kg in bridal gold.
