Fashion Forward Day 1: Jean Louis Sabaji’s show

One of the best-attended shows on day one of Fashion Forward was that of Lebanese designer Jean Louis Sabaji. He showed a fall/winter collection that was high on drama and high in the sky. With his theme of elevation and birds, Sabaji created the illusion of feathers with raw and ripped silk organza, beading and braiding. He also replicated bird's claws in silicone to beautiful effect. Sabaji played with wintry colours of black, brown and blue with spring-like yellows and whites. And interspersed with the ornithologically inspired pieces were classic sets in hound's tooth and transparent hooped dresses.
