Changes to bus services for Abu Dhabi Tour

ABU DHABI // A number of bus services will be cancelled or diverted while the Abu Dhabi Tour cycling race is in effect over the next few days.

The Department of Transport said that bus services have been changed to to ensure the safety and security of drivers and passengers.

On Thursday for the stage around the Western Region, some buses will have alternate routes, as they will for the stage in Al Ain on Saturday.

On Friday, when the peloton comes to the city of Abu Dhabi, several bus services to the suburbs will have their routes changed to Al Salam, Al Dhafeer and Airport Roads because of the closure of roads around Zayed Sports City from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Buses will be re-routed via Airport Road to Salam Street due to the closure of the Khalifa City’s Channel Street from 2pm to 3.15pm on Friday. There will be re-routing of bus services to Khalifa Street, Salam Street and Airport Road as Sheikh Khalifa City’s Channel Street will be closed to traffic.

Bus line 190 linking Zayed Sports City and Yas Island East and trips going from Zayed Sports City to Yas Island at 3.15pm and 4.15pm will be cancelled, as with trips from Yas Island to Abu Dhabi at 1.12pm, 2.12pm, and 3.12pm.

Bus line 195 linking Zayed Sports City with Yas Island North will have trips from Abu Dhabi at 3.15pm and 4.15pm cancelled as with trips originating from Yas Island at 1.43pm, 2.43pm, and 3.43pm.

Bus service routes will change in Abu Dhabi city for the Capital stage of the tour on Friday, while a number of bus trips will be cancelled in the Western Region on Thursday and in Al Ain on Saturday.

The DoT is advising drivers and all road users to take alternative routes and follow all safety driving instructions.
