With Men’s SS16 Fashion Week in full swing, we’re eager to grab a look at the inspiration behind the up coming, Ready To Wear SS16 shows. For Temperley London, it’s all about “freshness, optimism and providing the Temperley woman with a fun and wearable wardrobe”, says Alice Temperley. The designer chose prints inspired by 18th century Spitalfield silks, Russian dolls, Indian chintzes and Navajo patterns in a palette of varying shades of blues, creams and neutrals.
Combining contemporary shapes with traditional artisan techniques, Temperley’s spring/summer collection offers trans-seasonal daywear. Lightweight coats, relaxed shirt dresses and multiple separates create a relaxed day combination. Graphic, three-toned knitwear in elongated silhouettes are paired with chambray split skirts, worn unbuttoned. White shirts and three-piece suits create a youthful, louche look while wide legged, cropped culottes in silks and wools add a touch of modernity.
Evening wear features traditional satin stitch work, engineered bands of mirrored Perspex and hand-embroidered oblong sequins. The result is a look that is both opulent and effortless. The floor length coquettish jersey dresses and wide legged lace jumpsuits mirror the laid-back feel of the collection’s daywear pieces.
