This summer, Sotheby’s Dubai hosted a pop-up exhibition at its gallery in DIFC, commemorating renowned photographer Cecil Beaton, and showcasing some of his most iconic images. Portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Barbra Streisand seemed almost to look on encouragingly, as our fashion team shot image for Luxury magazine’s June 2017 fashion editorial.
Styling was sharp and tailored but still feminine, with a focus on shapes, lines and angles, in an overall glamour-meets-androgyny theme. New-season accessories on offer included the coveted pre-fall 2017 Gucci Marmont bag in black leather, emblazoned with the word “Loved” in pearl-embellished lettering and floral appliqués. A Do not Disturb sign-inspired clutch from Chanel, along with beautiful, layered jewellery from the label, was also made available to us, along with some quirky beaded earrings by Elisabetta Franchi.
In addition to Gucci, Chanel and Elisabetta Franchi, garments were also sourced from Chloé, Louis Vuitton and Bottega Veneta, plus pieces from newly launched Dubai-based luxury e-tailer The Modist. Local fashion label Madiyah Al Sharqi and clutch brand L’Afshar (recently carried by Queen Rania of Jordan) were also used in the shoot.
See the full fashion story, Frame of Reference, in the June issue of Luxury magazine, which comes out with The National newspaper on Thursday, June 15.
