Prison authorities in Brazil have found convicted drug dealer Clauvino da Silva dead in his cell, three days after his escape plan – which involved dressing up as his teenage daughter – was foiled.
Prison officials said that it appeared Silva had hanged himself.
On Saturday night, Silva tried to escape prison disguised as his daughter, but was stopped from escaping by guards.
A video showing him dissecting and removing the disguise – which included a silicon mask, a wig, glasses and a bra – received widespread media coverage.
Silva’s daughter, who stayed in his cell while her father tried to escape, was being investigated along with eight other people who were allegedly involved in the jailbreak.
Silva, 42, was serving a sentence of 73 years and 10 months for drug trafficking.
He had escaped from a jail in Gericin once before, when he absconded through a sewer system. But he was later apprehended by guards.
