While ISIS has largely been pushed out of Iraq and Syria, its claims to the attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday show that the organisation is still a threat. And not just a regional one.

With recruits from around the world under the group's "virtual caliphate", ISIS is a global menace, as Tim Marshall explains from The National's London bureau.
